Dialogue, Difference & Democracy Seminar Series

Ideos Institute, in partnership with the National Institute for Civil Discourse, is excited to announce a new National Day of Dialogue lecture series titled Dialogue, Difference and Democracy. The series brings together experts in the field of democracy and dialogue to promote practices, norms, and tools related to democracy promotion, social cohesion, conflict transformation, and human flourishing. Each expert-led talk will be followed by a dialogue session, where participants can join small discussion groups to share their ideas, ask questions, and gain insights from participants across the nation.

Joining us for the 4th in our 6-part series, we will be joined by Deanna Troust, founder of Truth in Common. Deanna is a communications strategist whose career includes 20 years in multicultural social change communications, leadership roles at Vanguard Communications and her first successful entrepreneurial venture — 3 Stories Communications. Deanna was a pioneer in bringing strategic communications to the inclusion, equity and diversity space and has led and contributed to dozens of cultural assessment and inclusive strategy projects in partnership with leading Washington, DC-area firms Cook Ross, Silverene Group and most recently, IDEAS Generation.

Deanna brings an unusual blend of mission orientation, PR strategy and gracious facilitation to the misinformation crisis, which she sees through the lenses of equity and access. Her passion for the issue guided her to strategic communications roles with disinformation researchers at Cybersecurity for Democracy, local news reformers and other Democracy Fund stakeholders as part of the Mission Partners team. She launched Truth in Common in 2022 and as a research-oriented practitioner, funnels insights from this work and other experts in the space into its methodology.
