Make the Pledge
PLEDGE FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY
We acknowledge that our nation faces a future fraught with division, polarization, false rhetoric, and hostility. We also recognize that the American Church is polarized at levels that challenge our witness and ability to lead the way in healing these divides.
Despite these challenges, we believe there’s an opportunity to come together, as ONE CHURCH, to heal the divides that threaten the strength of our relationships, the health of our congregations, and the vitality of our communities.
In response, we pledge to play an active role in changing it for the better. We pledge to do whatever we can to improve the current tone of toxic rhetoric and overt hostility. To do this, we pledge to remain open to perspectives different from our own, seek understanding of the perspectives of those we disagree with, and extend Godly love and compassion to those around us. Most importantly, we pledge to see those we disagree with as fellow image-bearers of Christ and to treat them with the same dignity and respect we desire for ourselves.
