DAY TWENTY

  • 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.


God's transformative work in the world starts with His work among us, His Church. Therefore, as God begins to work within us, we become fully aware of the calling on our lives to restore that which is broken: our relationships, our communities, and the Body of Christ. The increasing divisions and animosities within the church highlight our urgent need to listen to and respond to this call. In the passages for (re)new, we are listening for the voice of the Spirit that is seeking to heal the Body of Christ.

As you reflect on the passage for the day, ask yourself these questions:

  • Where did you stop in the passage? What word or phrase jumps out to you?

  • What vision for the church did you find in the passage? What hopefulness for the church?

  • Where does our work of unity begin?


TODAY’S PRAYER

Create in us clean hearts, O God, that we may learn to be your people, and live in unity with one another. Give us the gift of humility and strengthen us to live in sacrificial love for one another. May we glorify you by living at peace with one another. Amen
